The BP battery charger is an intelligent battery charger specially designed for charging all types of lead-acid batteries, i.e. wet, gel and AGM batteries. The DIP switch can be used to select exactly the perfect charging characteristic for each type of battery.

Thanks to the high frequency technology used, the charger is compact and can be installed or stored even in small compartments or cabinets. The charger is isolated from DC and AC current and is equipped with overvoltage protection, an automatic multi-stage charging function, and many other safety features that reduce the risk of electric shock and fire.

Automatic multi-stage charging curve.

The BP battery charger has an automatic charging function with up to six stages and delivers rated current over approximately 75% of the charging time. This feature ensures complete, fast and safe charging of your battery.

Integrated timer

When the charge has dropped to a certain nominal value or the charge time preset on the timer has expired, the BP battery charger switches from absorption to trickle charging.

Recovery charge

The BP battery charger is designed for permanent connection to the battery. To prevent possible sulfation during long-term trickle charging, the charger automatically switches to the recovery charge mode after 14 days.

Simultaneous charging of multiple batteries

The BP battery charger is equipped with multiple DC terminals (the 12A model with two terminals, the 20A, 25A and 40A models with three terminals) so that multiple batteries can be charged simultaneously.

The total current (12 A, 20 A, 25 A or 40 A) depends on the model type. If multiple batteries are connected to the charger, the total current is divided between the individual batteries according to the degree of discharge.

Isolated outputs

The outputs are electrically isolated from each other. Current flows between the terminals and reverse current from the battery to the battery charger are prevented in this way.

Particularly low-noise design

The charger is particularly low-noise. If the charging current falls below a certain value, the charger's fan is switched off. If the temperature inside the device rises again, the fan is automatically switched on again.

Simultaneous operation as charger and power supply unit

The intelligent BP battery charger can be used simultaneously as a DC power supply and battery charger. The device software is programmed to prevent overcharging of the battery even under such circumstances.

Protective coating of the printed circuit boards

To protect against moisture and corrosion, the printed circuit boards built into the BP battery charger are provided with a protective coating.

Use as a power supply unit

The BP battery charger can also be used as a power supply unit by setting the DIP switch accordingly. However, a constant voltage is then output. In this mode, the device is not suitable for charging batteries. Battery type and battery temperature are ignored in this mode. The temperature sensor does not initiate voltage equalization in this mode, but the overtemperature protection continues to function. In this mode, the charger can deliver net DC voltages of 13.5 V (12 V models) or 27 V (24 V models).

Integrated protection functions

The BP battery charger has the following protective functions:

1) Shutdown in the event of a short circuit at the output;

2) Electronic protection against incorrect polarity;

3) Shutdown in case of excessive battery voltage;

4) Reduction of power when the charger temperature is too high, maintaining the temperature at a balanced level;

5) Shutdown when battery temperature is too high, automatic restart after sufficient cooling.

Automatic temperature compensation

The standard equipment of BP battery charger also includes a battery temperature sensor.

When this sensor is connected to the battery, the charger can automatically regulate the charging current to the connected battery more accurately using appropriate temperature compensation.

Operation at high ambient temperatures
